Pedro Ladeira, Sustainability Director at FCT Group, has given an overview of FCT Combustion’s unique colour control method to maintain the traditional ‘cement grey’ colour when using clays as a supplementary cementitious material, despite the iron content which can otherwise turn the end-product into a reddish hue.
Unlike many other colour control strategies in the market, the use of inorganic modifiers is a relatively inexpensive method with reduced handling involved. Comparatively, other key benefits include lower CO2 emissions, reduced energy consumption, and matched or improved concrete strength development
The presentation was given at Cemtech’s “Future of Green Cements” webinar, accessible below or by subscribing to our YouTube channel.
Further information on the topic is detailed in an article written by Pedro Ladeira and Jose Eustáquio Machado, which was published in the “Green Challenge” edition of ZKG magazine and can be downloaded by clicking here.
