FCT is pleased to announce the appointment of Pedro Ladeira to the role of Sustainability Director, effective immediately. Pedro will be based in Fort Lauderdale, USA and oversee the continued development of new technologies and solutions to improve the sustainability of our partners.

Pedro has been involved in the cement, industrial minerals, lime, and fertilizer industries over the last 25 years, in both technical and managerial positions across the Americas. Previously, he has worked with companies including Cimento Tupi, Verde Potash, Holcim (Argentina and Brasil), and ERG Mineração e Comércio.

Most recently, Pedro was Technical Director for FCT Combustion’s operations in North and South America, where he played a key role in the development of FCT’s Clay Calcining Technologies, FlashCalx™ flash calciner and RotaCalx™ rotary kiln calciner. The two technologies assist producers in adopting green cement production, thus lowering emissions, decreasing energy consumption and reducing fuel usage, while still maintaining a high quality product with the potential for enhanced durability and increased plasticity within the concrete.

With a Master’s degree from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais focused on NOx reduction in clinker kilns, Pedro also holds various patents and developed novel processing routes for a K2O-based fertilizer with the University of Cambridge from bench to semi-commercial scale.

As Sustainability Director, Pedro will guide the development of new technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of our partners. This includes various CO2 reduction strategies to help high temperature processing industries decarbonize their plant, whether it be through maximizing alternative fuel usage, adopting clay calcining technologies for green cement production, or safely incorporating hydrogen usage with FCT’s range of burners.

FCT Group CEO, Adriano Greco, commented:
“I am delighted to announce that Pedro will take on the role of Sustainability Director at FCT. I am confident that Pedro’s strong technical expertise and his research in emissions reduction, along with his proven commercial acumen, are the perfect foundations for success in this role. With Pedro’s leadership in this area, we will continue to develop and deliver technologies and solutions that will assist our partners in meeting their sustainability goals.”

Sustainability Director, Pedro Ladeira, commented:
“My experience from the client-side, having previously held a long tenure in cement manufacturing, helps me in understanding the customer’s perspective and makes it easier to search for the most adequate sustainable solutions. I look forward to working with our partners to develop the technologies that I know would be advantageous to operations in the plants.”
