FCT Combustion is pleased to announce an agreement with Empresas ICON to expand the breadth of our existing hot gas generator range with two new products.
The first product, the FCT-ICON Solid Fuel Hot Gas Generator, allows operators to make use of the least expensive and most readily available solid fuels without need for a grinding system – or the associated capital expenditure.
The innovative technology uses fluidization to facilitate the even interaction of fuel and air without contact with metal or moving parts, before combustion and the generation of hot gases to be used in subsequent processes such as drying. A recent example of this was a successful installation as part of a complete clay drying solution FCT delivered to UCEM’s Chimborazo plant in Ecuador, to enable the use of lump coal and/or petcoke instead of having to mill the solid fuels.
Replacing equipment that use traditional fuels (such as natural gas, LPG or fuel oil), the product instead operates using solid fuel types which can be less expensive, including biomass and other alternative fuels, coal, or petroleum coke among others. With a wide temperature range, the FCT-ICON Solid Fuel Hot Gas Generator is suitable for industries that use dryers of any type, mills, and boilers.

The second product, the FCT-ICON Mobile Grate Hot Gas Generator, is suitable for using biomass of difficult combustion and high humidity, such as mixtures of chips, tree bark and bagasse, and can be applied for dryers and industrial ovens, among other applications.
FCT International Managing Director, Con Manias, said the agreement would enhance the company’s existing range of products and services to help customers meet their goals.
